TL;DR
LinkedIn offers various paid subscriptions (Premium Business, Sales Navigator, Recruiter Lite, Premium Career, LinkedIn Learning) that enhance its free version. Sales Navigator is ideal for B2B sales prospecting, Premium Career for job seekers, and Recruiter Lite for recruiters. The choice depends on individual needs and goals.
LinkedIn is arguably the most powerful networking tool for sales professionals. LinkedIn offers several subscription versions, with enhanced features compared to its Basic version.
What are the different subscriptions available? What are the functions of each paid version of LinkedIn? And what are its benefits for businesses?
In this blog post, I will present the different subscriptions LinkedIn offers and help you choose the one that’s right for you.
What are the different LinkedIn subscriptions?
LinkedIn as we know it is just the tip of the iceberg.
Indeed, there are several types of LinkedIn Premium subscriptions, each with different features and benefits.
Here are the paid subscriptions available for LinkedIn as of today:
- Premium Business
- Sales Navigator
- Recruiter Lite
- LinkedIn Premium Career
- LinkedIn Learning
All these options give you access to a LinkedIn Premium account.
Over the years, the social network has adapted its offering to satisfy its different personas, namely:
- salespeople;
- recruiters;
- marketing teams;
- job seekers;
- and growth hackers on LinkedIn.
Let’s now look at the advantages and disadvantages of each of these plans.
Free LinkedIn Version
Before going into detail about the extent of LinkedIn Premium features, it’s important to understand what you get with the free version of LinkedIn.
A free LinkedIn account gives you access to the following features:
- A LinkedIn profile that can be viewed by anyone on LinkedIn;
- The ability to connect with other LinkedIn members;
- Basic search function – very limited, you’ll understand why;
- Up to 3 saved searches;
- The ability to access LinkedIn Pulse.
With the basic version, you can create a profile, connect with other LinkedIn members, and perform some basic searches.
In fact, a free LinkedIn account gives you access to the essentials, which is already quite good, but not necessarily sufficient compared to other subscription versions that will give you access to other services like LinkedIn KPIs.
So without further ado, let me take you through the paid subscriptions.
LinkedIn Subscription 3: Recruiter Lite
The Recruiter Lite subscription is, as its name suggests, intended for recruiters.

It allows you to:
- Easily find the best candidates thanks to advanced search;
- Learn more about candidates through their detailed profiles;
- Contact them directly via InMail (for a limited time);
- Track their activity on LinkedIn.
While it’s an interesting option, this plan is often considered too expensive (€119 per month), especially for recruiters who don’t necessarily need all the features of this offer.
Which LinkedIn Subscription to Choose?
Now that you know a bit more about LinkedIn Premium subscription offers and prices, you might be wondering which solution is best suited to your situation.
As we saw earlier, there are 4 LinkedIn subscriptions and all include access to LinkedIn Learning, which is a knowledge base for learning about the tool and its features.

The choice of LinkedIn subscription depends on your profile:
- If you are an individual and are not looking to use LinkedIn to develop your business or find a job, the basic free plan is more than sufficient.
- For B2B sales professionals who want to generate qualified leads through LinkedIn prospecting, I highly recommend getting Sales Navigator. This plan is truly the most comprehensive if you want to use LinkedIn as a salesperson. It provides access to all of LinkedIn’s most advanced features.
- If you are looking for a job or want to advance your career, and have some money to invest, the LinkedIn Premium Career subscription might be the right solution. Indeed, the features offered are very useful for candidates, particularly priority access to job openings and the ability to contact recruiters directly. You will thus have a definite advantage over candidates using the free version of LinkedIn.
- If you are a recruiter or headhunter, you might consider using LinkedIn Recruiter Lite, although, as mentioned above, Sales Nav offers very useful features for certain types of recruitment.
Comparison Table of LinkedIn Subscriptions
Still not convinced despite the explanations above? Don’t worry, LinkedIn has put in place a summary table to understand the features included in each plan and compare them easily.

This table is only a partial list of the features of each subscription.

Go Further with LinkedIn Corporate Offers
LinkedIn also offers corporate solutions, intended for larger organizations, such as business units or very large recruitment teams.
These offers are quite expensive (starting from €10,000 per month) but allow, among other things:
- To generate qualified leads;
- To test your LinkedIn opening lines;
- To improve your company’s visibility on LinkedIn;
- To develop your employer brand;
- To optimize your advertising campaigns;
- And much more.
In short, these are often custom solutions adapted to the budgets and processes of business units and other large groups.
If these offers interest you, we advise you to contact LinkedIn’s sales department directly.
